A small house, founded on the belief that ideas deserve permanence.
Mic Press is an independent publisher founded in New York in 2025. We exist to give an audience to the builders, researchers, and thinkers at the frontier of the technological transition — and to set the convictions of the deepest among them in a form built to last.
We began with a single conviction: that the most consequential changes of our lifetime deserve books equal to them.
The intelligence age is being narrated in real time — in posts, threads, and slide decks that are obsolete by the season. We thought it deserved something slower and more durable. A book that argues carefully, is made with craft, and is built to be read in a decade.
So in 2025 we started Mic Press: a new house, with no backlist to protect and no formula to repeat. We look for the people thinking hardest at the lineage break — the builders and researchers asking what humanity will need to prosper alongside intelligent machines — and we hand them the mic. We publish few titles, and we give each one the editorial attention and physical care the great houses reserve for their best.
Four commitments, kept on every book.
Few books, deeply made
A short list, chosen with conviction. We would rather publish one book completely than ten adequately.
Design as argument
Typography, paper, and structure are how a difficult idea becomes legible, memorable, and worth returning to.
Author-first
We exist to serve the writer’s intent — to sharpen the argument, never to sand down the voice.
Built to endure
We publish for the decade, not the cycle — in editions meant to be kept and handed on.
From manuscript to object.
Editorial
Close, structural editing in partnership with the author. We work the argument until it holds — clear, rigorous, and unmistakably theirs.
Design & Production
Bespoke typography and binding for every title. Cloth boards, Smyth-sewn signatures, archival paper — books made to last.
Into the world
Direct and through every major retailer, in print, digital, and audio — with the reach of a modern house and the care of a small one.
